Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone here have used a flat bottom boat say 12 or 14 foot for underwater structure? And if so how did it work good, bad? I remember a old sunking boat back home in a lake I fished and there always seemed to be some fish around it and was just wanting some thoughts on the idea?

RC I an embarrassed to say yes. We had an old 14 ft jon boat that was beyond repair but still floated. I filled it with large rocks ( basketball sized) towed it out while it was filling with water. It did not sink so I put several holes in the bottom with a pick. It sank but because of its shape not straight down but glided down. It did not go where it was supposed to. To this day , even with a sonar , I have not positively determined where it is located. I need to get out the aquaview and look. So not knowing its location I don't know if the structure holds fish or not. If I did it again I would add a metal pole on the front end to make it angle up off the bottom.

LOL, Funny! Thanks for the info. I will be careful. Not sure if I want to try it or not yet??? But figured it would be a good structure if you could get it in the right spot that is.

We have an old wooden boat that was sunk in our pond, and there was always a huge LMB hanging out around it.

It's pretty much all silted over now as it was kind of in one of our inlets.

I'd go for it.
